Sunrise Splendor's standards are pure white and well-formed. Gold imbues the base of the standards as well as the midribs. The rounded falls’ white ground has gold-embossed shoulders and a soul-stirring purple which flows outward from the fat bright orange beard. Note the rim of the petals: the standards feature a pencil thin gilt line, and the falls a wider amber border. 400 years ago Carolus Clusius wrote the colors of iris vary in a wonderful way. If he’d seen this offering, he might have said, “The kids got into the paints again.” It’s hard to take your eyes off of it.
